Contact Form Not Sending? What to Check First

If your website form is not submitting or messages are not arriving, here are the most common causes.

When a contact form appears to fail, there are usually two possibilities. Either the form is not submitting properly, or it is submitting but the email is not reaching the intended inbox.

Start with the basics. Fill in all required fields properly and test the form yourself. If the form shows a validation error, the issue may simply be missing or incorrectly formatted information. If it spins endlessly, refreshes strangely, or does nothing, the issue may be technical.

If the form submits successfully but no email arrives, the cause is often email-related rather than form-related. The message may be going to spam, the recipient address may be wrong, the mailbox may be full, or the domain’s mail authentication may not be configured properly.

Also check whether the form has recently been edited, whether plugin or site updates were made, or whether server settings changed. These often break forms quietly.

When reporting the problem, it helps to include the page URL, the time you tested it, the email address that should receive the message, and whether you saw a success confirmation on screen. A screenshot or short screen recording is even better.

If the form is a key part of your enquiries, treat this as a priority issue rather than waiting to see if it fixes itself. It usually will not.
